Indian Jack Jacobs was my father. He was very proud of his Creek heritage and was one heck of an athlete. The reason he was such a great football player was because he loved to play the game. I remember going to watch the Minnesota Vikings practice in Winston Salem one year when my dad was scouting for the Vikes and then Head Coach Bud Grant. I was also able to accept his awards for being inducted into the American Indian Athletic Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. I sat beside the son of Jim Thorpe at the Oklahoma Induction. As of now, my dad is in six Hall of Fames. On January 12, 1973, my dad and I were raking leaves in the backyard and he fell over and died of a heart attack. I was 13. It was devastating, however, I took tha positive out of it and was glad I was there with him in his fianl moments. Today, when I go run the mountain trails in East Tennessee and western North Carolina, I take two more with me. I take my Dad and I take God. That way, i know it is impossible to fail. Long live my Dad..Indian Jack Jacobs!
John, Is there anyway I could contact you to write me a letter about your Dad? I am 10 years old and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am working on a school project on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and their history.
It is the best time to make some plans for the future and it's time to be happy. I have read this post and if I could I want to suggest you some interesting things or suggestions. Maybe you could write next articles referring to this article. I want to read even more things about it!
I do not know whether it's just me or if perhaps everybody else encountering problems with your site. It looks like some of the written text within your content are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them as well? This could be a problem with my internet browser because I've had this happen previously. Thank you
